Well maybe not on the nude beaches of beautiful European coastlines, but in the eyes of Adobe and Google it might as well be persona non grata when it comes to Adobe’s software Flash. In a recent official announcement for the software Animate CC, Adobe stated:
"To more accurately represent its position as the premier animation tool for the web and beyond, Flash Professional will be renamed Adobe Animate CC, starting with the next release in early 2016."
The Animate CC software will still be a focused animation tool but with one key difference. Animate CC will focus on producing work with the lately highly used HTML5 development language instead of Flash (SWF) and AIR formats.
Since the announcement, Google has put in place a timeline to remove Adobe Flash from its display advertising services.
- Starting June 30th, 2016, display ads built in Flash will no longer be uploaded into AdWords and DoubleClick digital marketing.
- And as of January 2, 2017 ads in the Google Display Network and DoubleClick will not be allowed to be in the Flash format.
The time to update your digital advertising is now
It’s important that you update your display ads to HTML5 before June 30th to ensure they continue to function appropriately and are acceptable for submission into the Google Display Network.
